March SAT is Sneaking Up!

I know it still feels like a long time from now, but the March SAT is slowly creeping toward us. The test itself is on March 14th, but the registration deadline is February 13th. I’m sure most of us are just looking forward to the winter holidays, but here are a few suggestions for improving your SAT preparedness over the break:

  1. Read! Reading is one of the easiest and best ways to prepare for the exam. Read nonfiction, news stories and articles, and even your school textbooks to get an idea of what to expect on the SAT. The passages are mostly taken from Social Studies and the Humanities, but also from works of literature. Make sure you are well versed in each!
  2. Review Math Concepts! Algebra makes up the biggest chunk of points on SAT math. Remember to go back and review those basic math concepts; everything is built on those!
  3. Grammar? Yes, grammar! Look up websites that review grammar rules and principles of the English language. This will not only help you during the Writing & Language Test but also improve your writing skills for the optional – but recommended -essay.
  4. Make a Study Schedule! One of the worst things you can do is try to cram all your studying into the week before the exam. Give your brain time to store SAT concepts in its long term memory rather than overloading its short term memory!
