With this individualized approach to education, I can help pinpoint exactly what areas your student is struggling in and maximize our time together by focusing on improving those skills! I pride myself on creating a safe learning environment that encourages students to ask as many questions as they need to, regardless of how basic (I definitely didn’t once ask a teacher where Canada was…). I am here to help your student improve as best they can, and that starts with honesty!

Parent Consultations

Prior to our first tutoring session, I like to schedule a little meet-and-greet with the parents and the student I will be working with. This way we get to know each other better and identify some areas of need before launching into our actual work, saving us both time and money!

About Me

Brian Richards has been teaching since the third grade. Although his teachers did not appreciate it when he would walk around the classroom after finishing his own test to try to help his peers, he has since made a career out of this talent. After growing up in Westchester County, NY, he attended Boston College and earned a degree in secondary education with a concentration in history. Since then, he has worked in various academic roles from substitute teacher to outdoor educator to tutor. For six years, he tutored and taught classroom programs at Kaplan Inc. for the PSAT, SAT, ACT, and GRE. His expertise and mastery of the material earned him a two time ranking among the top five nationwide Pre-College instructors. In 2015, he was named the highest rated teacher. More recently, Brian has taken on the role of Educational Consultant and has assisted in the implementation of reading programs in public schools and also remains devoted to supporting his own students and giving them the tools to succeed.
